New operational and field engineering services connect remote technical expertise, on-site capabilities and emerging technologies to support increasingly complex infrastructure.
Washington, DC – October 19 2026 – Global infrastructure investment requirements are projected to reach US$151.1 trillion by 2050, according to PwC's Global Infrastructure Outlook 2025–50. As digitalisation, artificial intelligence and infrastructure modernisation accelerate, organisations face a growing challenge: keeping increasingly complex and geographically distributed infrastructure operational.
While advances in monitoring, automation and remote diagnostics have transformed infrastructure management, physical assets still depend on skilled technical intervention. Bridging the gap between digital intelligence and on-site execution is becoming essential to maintaining operational resilience.
To address this growing operational challenge, Commercis has launched Commercis Extend, a new operational and ground technical services business bridging the gap between remote intelligence and on-site intervention.
Combining Technical Support Services and Field Engineering Services, the business integrates monitoring, advanced diagnostics, specialist technical assistance and field engineering to enable a more coordinated response, from identifying an issue through to its resolution.
Connecting intelligence with on-site intervention
Commercis Extend combines two complementary capabilities:Technical Support Services provide remote customer support, network monitoring, advanced technical assistance and security operations, enabling the identification, investigation and management of technical issues.
Field Engineering Services provide site assessments, installation and commissioning, maintenance, infrastructure audits and on-site technical intervention.
The business is also developing technology-enabled support models incorporating smart hands services and emerging wearable technologies, including smart glasses. These capabilities can connect on-site engineers with remote specialists, enabling live visual collaboration, expert guidance and more effective technical intervention.
Designed for complex and geographically distributed environments, Commercis Extend supports organisations across telecommunications, energy, government, defence, enterprise, media and critical infrastructure sectors.
Leadership and operational delivery
Commercis has appointed Floyd Turner, Chief Operating and Quality Assurance Officer, to lead Commercis Extend. With more than 30 years of international experience in technical operations, infrastructure projects and service delivery, Turner will oversee the integration of remote and field engineering capabilities, technology-enabled services and operational standards.
Commenting on the launch, Turner said: “As infrastructure becomes more complex and distributed, the challenge is not simply identifying what needs attention but having the expertise and capabilities to respond effectively. Commercis Extend brings remote technical intelligence and on-site engineering together, creating a more connected approach to supporting the infrastructure organisations depend on.”
Building on Commercis' established experience in connectivity, network infrastructure, engineering and managed technical services, Commercis Extend represents a further step in delivering integrated operational capabilities that connect technical intelligence with action, wherever infrastructure requires support.
